On October 18, 2010, Arcade Floors Carpet One Floor & Home launched the Healthier Living Flooring Installation System. Carpet One has been developing this system for almost two years. The Healthier Living Flooring Installation System will provide genuine health benefits for you and your family.

More than 70 million Americans are diagnosed with allergies. At least half than many have allergies that are undiagnosed. Do you remember the H1N1 Swine Flu last year? The SARS epidemic a few years ago? What about recent outbreaks of Salmonella and E. Coli? Everywhere you go now, there are hand sanitizers and sales of Lysol and other bacteria killing products are through the roof. Our health is of key importance to all of us today.

No matter how clean we keep our homes, microorganisms live there by the millions…allergens, bacteria, mold and mildew. Part of the Healthier Living Flooring Installation System is to limit the amount of these surface microorganisms from becoming airborne during a flooring installation. But that is not all. The HLFI System treats the installation area with a safe chemical inhibits the growth of mold, mildew and odor causing bacteria. There are specific steps depending upon the type of product being installed.

Your existing floor or carpet is thoroughly vacuumed with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Absorbing) vacuum cleaner. A HEPA vacuum can remove up to 99.97% of all particulates that are larger than 3/10 of a micron. The purpose of this step is to minimize microorganisms becoming airborne during removal.

After the removal, your sub-floor is again vacuumed with the HEPA vacuum cleaner to remove microorganisms that may have been between the sub-floor and the old carpet or floor. Next, the sub-floor is treated with HealthinEx™ , a very safe (in use for more than 30 years) chemical. HealthinEx™ is designed to destroy bacteria, germs, viruses, mold, H1N1, Staphylococcus, E. Coli, Salmonella, and Influenza A.

If you have purchased our Gold, Platinum, or Titanium warranty level carpets, your installation will automatically include Antimicrobial Premium Carpet Cushion that contains BioShield and Spill Bloc technology. This special cushion will continue to fight the growth of mold, mildew, and odor-causing bacteria. Purchasers of our Bronze and Silver warranty level carpets may purchase this Antimicrobial cushion at an additional cost.

Finally, if you have purchased carpet, your new carpet will be vacuumed once again with a HEPA vacuum cleaner just as a final extra step to remove more of the microorganisms that may have become airborne during the installation.
